A re-introduction
Over the last few months, we have made lots of new friends and we are SO glad! We thought it would be a great time to re-introduce ourselves and share a bit of the 2021 Co. story.
We met each other in our previous careers back in the late 2000s (forever ago!). At that time, Emily was working at Providence College as a graphic designer, her first design job post-college, and Nicole as a sales rep for her family's printing business. Through working together, a strong friendship was born and a dream formed: find a way to use our combined strengths and skills to create SOMETHING!
When you are lucky enough to have a friendship that feels so natural, perhaps in part due to shared personal tragedies—both losing our brothers (Emily's to suicide and Nicole's to drugs and violence), you just know you were meant to do something special together.
Using our collective skills and passion for design and marketing, we created 2021 Co., a stationery brand meant to help foster human connection using the power of and personal nature of words on paper.
Our First Press Run
We had no idea how many cards to print. Being eternal optimists, we printed more than 1000 of each style. Little did we know six year later we would still have some left from that first run!
Flash forward 7 years, and we've come SO far. We have made so many amazing friends and built a business that we are incredibly proud of, all while keeping our friendship at the heart of the business.
